State Printing and Mint Institute<\/h2>\n

Mr. Michele Vaira was a member of the Board of Directors of the State Printing and Mint Institute from September 2014 to October 2017.<\/p>\n

In these three years, the IPZS has built a solid industrial and IT structure<\/strong>, with high profitability, able to effectively carry out the mission entrusted by the State as guarantor of public faith.<\/p>\n

IPZS is now finally the national competence center in the fields of electronic documents for the physical and digital identity of citizens.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Presidium of anti-counterfeiting<\/strong> and processing of sensitive information<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The main projects<\/strong><\/h3>\n

First of all the launch, in mid-2016, of the Electronic Identity Card<\/strong> project on a national scale, after almost twenty years of unsuccessful experimental phase.<\/p>\n

So, the new CIE<\/strong> is based on technological solutions that comply with international standards, open and transparent.<\/p>\n

Hence, the proprietary technology<\/strong>\u00a0previously adopted has been abandoned and the new CIE represents the most advanced and secure solution<\/strong> for the digital identity of citizens.<\/p>\n

The re-internalization of the production of the lotto game<\/strong> receipts (after a long period of external management).<\/p>\n

Even more, agreements<\/strong> with organizations \/ institutions (MISE, CSM, Italian Defense Agency, La Sapienza University of Rome) for technological development and research.<\/p>\n

Then the launch of other projects aimed at overseeing critical activities<\/strong> from a strategic point of view and safety previously carried out by external suppliers.<\/p>\n

Among others, in particular, the process of internalising<\/strong> the production of pharmaceutical labels was completed, which has enormously increased the level of control and security.<\/p>\n

Large investment plan<\/h3>\n

A large investment plan and the relaunch of research and development activities that is allowing for complete technological renewal with a substantial improvement in the skills system.<\/p>\n

A further effect<\/strong> is the digitalisation of production processes which\u00a0drastically reduces the possibility of undue distraction of materials and products.<\/p>\n

Furthermore<\/strong>, important investments are being made in ICT for system virtualization, disaster recovery, business continuity and the improvement of IT security.<\/p>\n

As a result the achievement of important international certifications for safety and the environment and the start of environmental characterization<\/strong> and reclamation interventions.<\/p>\n

Most noteworthy<\/strong>, the definitive resolution of the dispute with the Agenzia del Demanio regarding the ownership of the historic building in Via Principe<\/strong> Umberto and rationalization of the real estate assets.<\/p>\n

The turnover of 20% of staff and 60% of managers<\/strong> and reduction of absenteeism.<\/p>\n

Similarly<\/strong> the sale of the subsidiary Editalia<\/strong> to Treccani.<\/p>\n

Finally the opening of the New Mint Museum<\/strong> at the Salary Center, with the reconstruction of the hosting premises and the cataloging of over 22,000 properties and recovery of the industrial archaeological heritage.<\/p>\n

Above all, the start of the review process, in collaboration with DG VI of the MEF, of the supervisory rules<\/strong> with significant economic savings, greater effectiveness of the control system, rationalization of the use of personnel.<\/p>\n
